"The notion that such behavior would be tolerated in a country ostensibly founded on principles of individual liberty is absurd on its face."

Absurd, abhorrent, repugnant, and scary ... the words are failing me.

will he have to register as a sex offender because he admitted to having sex with a minor?

trevor

As far as I'm aware, no. He broke no laws because he is a minor too.

That's very odd that police officers with those surnames would commit such extremely risky actions, don't you think? Think about it. Who or what would you do that for if you were in law enforcement? Probably nothing and no one. That's because no one you can immediately think of in a position of power would cover for you if you were exposed.

I know

I'd disagree that the man has been proven innocent. From what I can see here, there's no proof that a rape DIDN'T happen, and aside from the victim's "friend" who isn't taking things seriously enough to tell the truth, the man still has an accuser. It sounds like what's at play here is the stereotypical cop who frames people he already "knows" are guilty, instead of taking the time to build a solid case. (Or he may have botched it intentionally to get the kid off, which also happens.) I happen to know that Maryland already has a problem with a Pennsylvania-Maryland drug rape ring, where women are drugged and gang-raped, then the videotapes of those rapes are circulated among members of the ring. I've personally heard members of a motorcycle club and other people in the community discussing those tapes (mostly husbands warning wives not to say anything because they could get into legal trouble). What I find most disturbing is how long that particular rape video ring has been able to operate in the area. To be frank, in the case of the rape mentioned above, what surprises me most is that a rape was even taken seriously in the state of Maryland.

innocent until you run out of money strikes again. If these were muslim/arab/[redacted] it would b a mistrial on some legality or the other till the defendants run out of money after which they get convicted of some charge or the other and get thrown in prison for life.

If you listened to even four minutes of the girl's testimony, you'd realize a rape didn't happen.
