Our buddy Wolf links to an article at MSNBC in which a politician in St. Louis has told its residents to arm themselves. The police, of course, are not happy with this suggestion; they want to retain their monopoly on the protection of defense services. Moreover, if the people become proficient in self-defense, they may question the need for police services. Of course, the statist academic believes that there is no evidence that more guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens increases safety. Really? No evidence at all? So no one has done any research to suggest otherwise? Perhaps we should disarm the agents of the State; then we will all be safer.
Hey man, thanks for the shout-out. And, once again you've proven that I am merely an apprentice to your masterful insight. You took this to a place I hadn't even considered... to wit; "Moreover, if the people become proficient in self-defense, they may question the need for police services."

By the way... Brutus I know you wrote this post, but Trevor... as a fellow Sabres fan, is it me, or does that picture at the bottom of the Charley Reese piece bear a striking resemblance to Rick Jeanneret??
