I can't stand cops. There are no "good cops" because all police officers enforce the tyrannical laws of our rulers. Early this morning I was returning home and was stopped by a cop during a "safety check" in one of the safest areas of Washington, DC. I asked the supervising officer, "To whom can I write to complain about this?" His reply was the chief of police. He said that he and his fellow officers don't like doing this, but this is the job: enforcing idiotic laws (no, he didn't say that last phrase, but that's what I inferred from his answer). And I should respect these people? Please!
How safe is this area? I went to the Metropolitan Police Department's website to look up the crime statistics for this neighborhood. Within a 1,000 foot radius of the intersection where I was stopped between June 19, 2008, to August 19, 2008, there two auto related thefts reported. A year earlier there were three reported auto related thefts between June 19, 2007, and August 19, 2007. That's it. No other crimes were reported during that period. Nevertheless, the Chief of DC Police thought it a good use of resources to stop people who are doing nothing just to ensure their safety in one of the safest areas in the city. What b*(^*^&^!! The courts have ruled that the people in DC have no right to police protection. Thus, it is absurd to believe that the purpose of these stops is safety because the police are under no obligation to protect us. Our rulers are slowly chipping away at our freedom so that we will become inured to police abuse. As long as the sheep believe that this is for their safety, they are willing to endure this nonsense. The entire time I sat there, I could only think of Thomas Paine: My tax dollars are paying for this abuse.
So let me get this straight... they can just stop you without any probable cause? What did they do when they stopped you? Did they search your vehicle?

Just like sobriety checkpoints; just like they can make up any bullshit excuse to pull you over to administer a breathalyzer; just like they command the k9 dogs to bark so they have 'probable cause' to search your vehicle..

I could see several police officers as I drove to the intersection, but I saw they had stopped someone so I thought they were just harassing one person. As I was traveling through a green light, the officer almost jumped in front of my car. He then lectured me, insinuating that I almost ran him over. Considering that I had not done anything, I didn't realize that he was trying to pull me over. I wasn't given a reason for the stop. I had to ask. I asked the officer for his badge number and I got the impression he was going to write me a ticket just because he felt threatened that I would file a complaint. I really just wanted to know whom was pulling me over and why. I do plan to write the chief of police and the mayor concerning this. I know that such actions will probably not change much, but I want them to know that there still some of us out here who do care about our rights and will protest the violations.

Brutus, you really think they'd give you a ticket as a pre-emptive strike on your complaint?.....
Yeah, don't answer that. We all know the answer. Worthless pigs.
