Hey Washington, Privatize Metro

Republican congressman Tom Davis begs for more of your federal tax dollars in this morning's Washington Examiner in order to be able to fund the wasteful boondoggle that is D.C.'s metro rail system.

And par for the course in our new, post-9/11 America, Davis preys on fears of terrorism as a primary means of convincing the sheep to pony up the loot.

Metro's virtually the sole means by which the nation's capital could be evacuated in case of manmade or natural disaster. And it could be the only means by which federal workers could reach their offices keep the government functioning with another 9/11-type event.

Davis, along with the vast majority of his colleagues in Washington, would rather continue to redistribute income from those who have no use for particular services to those who do, instead of taking the only moral and practical course and privatizing Metro.

There is sooooo much wrong with that statement...

1st, if there's a terrorist event in DC, and I happen to be there, the LAST thing I'm doing is getting on Metro. I'll walk home first!

2nd, every federal agency has a COOP (Continuity of Operations) plan that allows for work to continue from remote sites in the event of disaster so that "reaching offices" would not be critical.
