St. James Deli One-Year Anniversary

I will be at St. James Deli & Spirits this Friday, Jan. 14, at 5 p.m. giving away free chili and goodies in celebration of the store's one-year anniversary.

As anyone who's ever started a small business knows, being able to stay in business for at least a year is a significant accomplishment in this economy (and especially in such an anti-business state such as Maryland). So how better to celebrate than with free food and drink? That's right, the deli will also be giving away FREE samples of their craft beer selection as well!

So stop on by on your way home from work and warm up with some hot, award-winning chili and wash it all down with free beer. Seriously, what else could possibly top that!

I will be giving away free samples of my world-championship chili this Sunday, Nov. 21, at The Apple Basket in Mechanicsville, MD from 11 a.m. until it runs out.

Anyone living in the area is invited to stop by, as the shop should be humming in anticipation of the holiday season. The store does a fantastic business, and it's your place to find everything from candles and fine jewelry to kitchen wares and other great food products.

I will be at the Leonardtown McKay's this Saturday, Nov. 6, at 11 a.m. giving away free chili and other promotional goodies for anyone who would like to stop by. With the weather slated to be in the 40s this weekend, it's a great time to pick up some T-Rev's Stiff Willi Chili Spice Mix and Pepper Sauce and whip up a batch of championship chili to stay warm!

The grocery store will also be running a special on seafood on Saturday, so don't forget that my spice mix is also great for steamed shrimp.

The Show Must Go On (Even If I Won't Be There)

My chili promo slated for this Friday (Oct. 22) at St. James Deli in Lexington Park is still a go, but unfortunately I will not be able to attend in person. I had hoped that my wife would make it past this weekend before giving birth to our second child, but we found out last Friday that she will be induced this Thursday -- and she didn't take too kindly to the suggestion that I run out Friday afternoon, do the promo, and meet her back at the hospital afterward.

However, Dave and Sherry are going ahead as planned and will simply hand out free samples of T-Rev's Stiff Willi Chili themselves. The deli has a nice crop of loyal patrons, so I'm hoping this promo will be a great opportunity to introduce my spice mix and pepper sauce to the fine folks south of the Pax River navy base.

Again, the promo will kick off around 5 p.m. on Friday. I'll catch you at the next one!

Video: T-Rev Spices up Deep-Fried Salmon at Peppers

Check out this video from my July promo at Peppers in Rehoboth Beach, DE. Chip Hearn and I put T-Rev's Stiff Willi Chili Spice Mix to the test by having some unsuspecting customers taste it on grilled and deep-fried salmon.

It's always a little nerve-wracking when I have other people try my products on dishes I've never even prepared yet -- live on video, of all things -- but that just goes to show how much confidence I have in them.

I think the guys who sampled the deep-fried salmon had a much better reaction than the guys who tried it on the grilled version, but I was very happy to see that both groups liked my spice mix on seafood. Just goes to show that even if you're not in the mood to make a batch of chili, the spice mix has plenty of other uses.

Now that we're starting to get into chili weather here in Marylad -- I think the thermometer's going to top off around 60 today -- my promotions are going to start picking back up again. So you know what that means: free samples of my award-winning chili and new pepper sauce, for starters, and the chance to pick up some free paraphernalia like Stiff Willi decals and bottle openers. I'll also have high-quality t-shirts available for low-quality prices.

If you live in the Lexington Park area, come visit me on Friday, Oct. 22 at 5 p.m. at the St. James Deli, just past Gate 3 of the Pax River naval air station. The owners have arranged a joint chili/craft beer promo, so we should have a great time. I mean, what's better than free chili and microbrew?

St. James Deli also purchases T-Rev's Stiff Willi Chili Pepper Sauce by the gallon and offers it as one of its chicken wing flavors, so if we're lucky maybe Dave and Sherry will break out some wing samples during the event too. Hope to see you there!

One note: Mrs. Willi is due with our second child on Oct. 27 so any promo dates toward the end of October will unfortunately have to be subject to last-minute cancellation. However, unless Biggie Smalls the Second arrives that Thursday or Friday, there shouldn't be a problem.
