Promo at The Apple Basket

I will be giving away free samples of my world-championship chili this Sunday, Nov. 21, at The Apple Basket in Mechanicsville, MD from 11 a.m. until it runs out.

Anyone living in the area is invited to stop by, as the shop should be humming in anticipation of the holiday season. The store does a fantastic business, and it's your place to find everything from candles and fine jewelry to kitchen wares and other great food products.

I'll Be a Guest Judge

At the 18th Annual SAIC Chili Cookoff in Lexington Park, MD on Thursday, Nov. 18. I'll be joining a few other local foodies comprising the judges' panel for this event, which is the primary fundraiser for the company's Christmas charity drive.

I will be donating spice mix, pepper sauce, and t-shirts for raffles, and I suspect that I'll have my products for sale, but I'll post more details as they become available.

I can't believe I'm a full seven months late in finding this, so I guess that means I have to be a little more proficient when it comes to googling myself.

However, back in March UltimateGuitar.com published a short piece on the 2010 DC101 Chili Cook-Off and was kind enough to note my 2009 Red Chili win at the DC101 Chili Cook-Off and subsequent People's Choice victory at the ICS World's Championship Chili Cookoff. To wit (emphasis in original):

True to its name, the Chili Cook-Off features an intense competition between 101 chili cooks in four categories: Red Chili, Green Chili, Freestyle, and Salsa. The 2009 Red Chili winner, Trevor Bothwell, went on to win the People's Choice Award at the World Championship Cook-Off in Charleston, West Virginia in October 2009. Among the celebrity judges at Chili Cook-Off 2010 will be Washington Redskins tight end Chris Cooley, quarterback Colt Brennan, and safety Reed Doughty, whose son received a kidney transplant in March 2008.

McKay's Promo

I will be at the Leonardtown McKay's this Saturday, Nov. 6, at 11 a.m. giving away free chili and other promotional goodies for anyone who would like to stop by. With the weather slated to be in the 40s this weekend, it's a great time to pick up some T-Rev's Stiff Willi Chili Spice Mix and Pepper Sauce and whip up a batch of championship chili to stay warm!

The grocery store will also be running a special on seafood on Saturday, so don't forget that my spice mix is also great for steamed shrimp.
